Whole 30 Launch
Oh the long awaited post is finally here! We’re 8 days away from starting a round of Whole 30 and I’m so excited but moreso because I get to share it all with you all day by day.
Since my first round of Whole 30 I’ve gotten so many questions on tips, tricks, recipes and so on. I have received a lot of encouragement and compliments on the physical changes that became noticeable after my 30 days went on. I would love to use my experience to encourage you as my journey has not been one that happened overnight nor was it easy. I want to be completely transparent and vulnerable with you all and say that right before starting my first round of Whole 30, I was at my lowest point, physically and mentally. I gained around 60 lbs while pregnant with my little man and after having him, all of that extra weight surfaced and I was miserable with what I saw in the mirror. Since I was young I’ve always been the girl that struggled with my image and feeling comfortable in my own skin because of what the world and man said I should look like. I would go through rough periods of self-hate and constantly focus on my inadequacies based on what I thought was truth. The funny thing about it all was as insecure as I was about my weight, my hair and the million other irrational things, I never once found myself able to turn my frustrations and my struggles into actions and do something about them. I was someone that completely disregarded the fact that some effort needed to be put in, in order to get to where I wanted to be. It wasn’t until I sat back in the realization that if I wasn’t happy with something I had the opportunity to change it. Deciding to try Whole 30 took my faith to believe I could see change, and finally aligned it with my willingness to do something about it.
I’m going to be a real straight shooter because I know that truth in love is always what the doctor ordered, at least for me. I will preface the rest of this post by saying, Whole 30 is not by any means a walk in the park RIGHT AWAY whether you’ve just decided or already done 5 rounds. With that being said, don’t immediately disqualify yourself like I tried to do time and time again. Just like with anything new, it takes time to get used to drastic, cold turkey change when you’re used to a lifestyle with different habits.
Now read this next line through the lens that shows my heart to want to see everyone get the absolute most from this- Whole 30 is not for everyone in every season. By that I don’t mean that you’re not cool enough to be invited to try or that only some are allowed access to the same breakthrough I received. I mean that because when deciding to dive in to Whole 30, you’re deciding to be all in from day 1 until day 30. You’re committed to results and seeing a shift. It’s not a half in, half out kind of change let alone should change ever be seen as that. And yes slip ups happen and not everyone’s first try is perfect but it takes a hungry individual to mess up and start over and continue the process, expectant to see something change. Whole 30 is meant to break you from the mold that you’ve been in that’s got you at a plateau either in your health, your weight, your habits or mindset.
Chew on all of that a little! In my next post, I will be breaking down Whole 30 into the Do’s and Don’ts and explaining more in detail about what it entails. I wanted to share my experience, my realizations and my heart today and open the door for anyone who needed that extra nudge. Let me just say- you’ll never get to where you want to be by standing still. Start somewhere! Lets do it together. Check back tomorrow for the nitty gritty!
